When might you use first-person? When might you use third-person? Find and post an additional link from the web that describes POV and share why you found it helpful. Research Paper Paragraph Sample: First-Person Point-of-View In my research about the nursing shortage, I discovered that we need many more people to enter the field. One of the articles I read stated that “as the baby boomer generation ages, the demand for health care will only increase” (Ebben & Ebbesen, 2013, p. 7). With the growing number of people requiring health services, we will need more people to take care of them. I believe this growing number of people requiring health services causes grueling working conditions. Another article I found pointed out that many hospitals and family care clinics are so shorthanded that the nurses who work there are forced to work 50 to 60-hour work weeks (Stilen, 2012), which is just like where I work. Because nurses are being overworked, I think the level of care they can give to their patients is negatively affected. This is why I know that the nursing field needs more people to enter it. Revised Research Paper Paragraph Sample: Third-Person Point-of-View Research about the nursing shortage reveals that many more people need to enter the field. Ebben and Ebbesen (2013) note that “as the baby boomer generation ages, the demand for health care will only increase” (p. 7). With the growing number of people requiring health services, more people will be needed to take care of the sick. While the increasing number of people requiring health care forces practicing nurses to their limits, the current nursing shortage also causes grueling working conditions. Stilen (2012) observes that many hospitals and family care clinics are so shorthanded that the nurses who work there are forced to work 50 to 60-hour work weeks. Because nurses are being overworked, the level of care they can give their patients is negatively affected. In order to meet the growing demands of the health care industry, the nursing field simply needs more people to enter it.
