please give a response to thi spost: The switch to the PDPM was necessary since the old model of reimbursement based on therapy minutes incentivized SNF to upcode and overcharge for services that were not provided. The new system assigns patients based on patient characteristics and places them in components of care to determine per diem rates. With this new system, the hope is that patient care becomes more prioritized with the incentives of the previous payment system not coming into play.
